Eight Radcliffe AC members once again took to the fells in Rawtenstall on Wednesday for the Golf Ball Fell Race. This 5 mile route with 900 feet of ascent took runners through a challenging mix of terrain, passing the large golf ball shaped radio transmitter for which the race is named on the final descent. Ian Swan sailed through the course in 48:41, followed by Chris Mihalyi (53:01), Mark Garner (55:51), Lucie Tighe (1:00:57), Chemane Thomas (finishing strong despite a superman style dive with two miles to go) (1:07:37), Alison Howarth (1:09:14), Stephen Crowe 1:10:42 and Peter Warr (1:19:00).
Helen Kay hit the impressive milestone of 550 parkruns on Saturday, which she celebrated at the 800th Bramhall event with fellow club members in a time of 34:19.
On Sunday, 18 raced at the Pennington Flash 5 Mile Trail Race held by Leigh Harriers Athletics Club, the latest in the Central Lancashire Grand Prix Series and the 10th of the club’s championship.
Running through the paths and tracks of Pennington Flash Country Park, Donna Cartwright was not only the first FV45 but the seventh overall lady (38:54), whilst Sheila Jones was first FV70 (42:29).
Steven Fawcett was the first to finish for the club in a stellar time of 33:04. Other results were Chris Mihalyi (34:51), Mark Williams (36:54), Dominic Parry (40:12), Ethan Malone (45:54), Sarah Wilson (46:56), David Bartlett (47:16), Elaine Bailey (48:11), Charlotte Holden (49:04), David Schofield (51:12), Cath Jones (51:18), Gail Harrison (57:57), Grace Williams (57:56), Tracy Wroe(58:39), Natalie Hitchen (1:02:08), Andy Wheeler (1:05:59) and Sara Parry (1:06:52).
