Kath Davies continued her training for a summer ultra by completing the Anglezarke Amble, a 24-mile circular route in the West Pennine Moors with 3,500ft of climbing. Enjoying fine weather but boggy terrain, Kath actually notched up 26 miles after taking a wrong turn and finished in a fantastic 6 hours and 34 minutes.

Ian Swan was also in action on the hills, completing the 11.5-mile Windy Hill Fell Race in Saddleworth, which had 2,090ft of climbing. He was 63rd out of 243 runners in 1:51:00.

New member Christian Peters got off to a flying start in his first race for the club, finishing an impressive 5th at Tatton Park 10k in 37:21.

A trio of new members were also at Aintree Half Marathon. Jakub Bramwell clocked 1:23:40 followed by Ryan Hallworth with a pb of 1:34:20 and Joseph Bramwell in 1:45:10.

Four women enjoyed perfect conditions at the penultimate fixture of the Greater Manchester Area Cross Country League. The 8k course at Kenworthy Woods, Wythenshawe included a rolling up and down section though the trees.

Chemane Golding and Karen Doherty were neck-and-neck throughout the three-lap race. But Chemane edged ahead at the end to finish in 49:01, four seconds ahead of Karen.

Louise Shield clocked 58:12, after stopping to help a runner who took a tumble, and Helen Kay ran 1:03:34 having done a parkrun that morning.
