Round up 12/02/2012
RADCLIFFE AC’s George Critchley braved treacherous icy conditions when he ran the Winter Hill Fell Race on Sunday.
Organisers said it had been some of the worst conditions the 11 mile race had ever had in its 30 year history.
Vet-50 George joined 173 runners starting from Rivington Hall Barn in Horwich and taking on 2,750 feet of climbing in thick mist. He was more than happy with his time of 2hrs 28mins 56secs, 13 minutes faster than his run last year.
He said later that although it was not a very cold day people had been “falling all over the place on the ice” and having trouble navigating in the mist but he had managed to stay on track.
George has had a good season at Radcliffe and is in training for the Yorkshire Three Peaks event in April.
