Race report 6/12/21
Radcliffe Athletic Club members faced harsh conditions in the final Red Rose Cross Country League fixture of the season.
They contended with chilly temperatures, strong winds and driving rain on the testing course at Marl Pits in Rossendale which featured deep mud and slippery descents.
Julie Robertson was first home for the club, and 29th overall, in the ladies’ race, finishing in 29:08. Karen Doherty ran 37:34, Lucy Tetler clocked 37:44 and Elaine Bailey was first F60 in 39:38.
The ladies team finished ninth while John Gibbs was the club’s sole representative in the men’s race, running 45:06.
In the final standings after four races, Bailey finished third in her age group.
In the popular Saturday morning 5k parkruns, Sheila Jones was the fourth woman and first FV65 in 23:48 at Heaton Park.
Kath Davies and Stephen Crowe ran 29:09 and 32:51 respectively at Bolton Parkrun while Jen Entwistle clocked 39:26 at Haigh Woodland.
