Race report 26/9/21
Sheila Jones continued her great form with a superb age group win at the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon.
She was first F65 in 1:49:48 over the course which started in Portland Street before heading out to the Etihad Stadium and finishing back in the city centre.
Jen Entwistle notched up a new half marathon personal best of 2:09:20 in the same race.
Meanwhile, Steven Fawcett ran 45:21 at the Great Manchester Run 10k and Elaine Bailey clocked 57:34 to claim second F60 at the Warrington 10k.
Four members took part in the midweek 5k at Cowm Reservoir, Whitworth. Rob Shiels was 17th overall in 19:31; Jenny Yates was third woman and first F55 in 22:02; Kath Davies was third F55 in 26:24, and Andy Wheeler ran 32:26.
At the Worsley Woods Five Mile Trail Race, Karen Doherty ran 49:38, Tracy Wroe 54:19 and Andy Wheeler was back in action, clocking 58:35.
Juniors Alex Kenny and Sophie Scholes received a medal and a T-shirt after finishing the Ironkids event in Bolton town centre.
Away from racing, Craig Norman did a sponsored marathon in aid of the mental health fcharity Mind.
He devised a tough route which included The Rake in Ramsbottom and the climb to Peel Tower, finishing in 4:08:57. You can sponsor Craig here.
Radcliffe runners were also in action at the 5k parkrun events.
Rob Shiels was eighth at Bolton parkrun in 21:17 followed by Mark Williams (23:38), Stephen Crowe (30:27) and Elaine Bailey (32:19).
At Heaton Park, Mike Kontowtt ran 21:40, Nick Barnes 29:27 and Iain Harris 34:22.
Elsewhere, Neal Emmerson clocked 17:59 to finish second at Worsley Woods parkrun; Sheila Jones was first F65 in 24:16 at Rothay parkrun in Ambleside; Emma Wolstencroft did 29:39 at Glossop and Caroline Malone ran 28:40 at Peel parkrun in Salford.
