Race report 20/9/21
Radcliffe Athletic Club’s Andy Wheeler ran a great 54:46 in his longest race since suffering a heart attack May.
He was pleased to finish in well under an hour at the Blackleach Five Mile Trail Race.
Team-mate Karen Doherty also clocked 49:09 on the scenic paths around the country park in Salford.
It was a quiet week for the club after last week’s hectic fixture list.
Gary Adkins was the only other member racing, finishing a superb 67th out of a field of approximately 4,000 at the Chester Half Marathon.
He ran a 1:22:53 pb on the course which starts and finishes in the historic city, and takes in a mixture of city and rural roads.
There was a good turnout from Radcliffe runners at the popular Saturday morning 5k parkruns.
Paul Barrington ran 25:12 at Bolton parkrun followed by Steve Hamer in 25:31 and Mark Wolfenden in 27:59.
At Heaton Park, Jenny Yates clocked 24:42, Jen Entwistle 34:06 and Iain Harris 36:48, while Craig Ward and Stephen Crowe ran 27:27 and 29:14 respectively at Worsley Woods.
Further afield, Rob Lister was 7th at Tewkesbury parkrun in 21:12, Caroline Malone ran 28:13 at Hereford and Elaine Bailey clocked 29:37 at Pontefract.
