Race report 20/12/21

Four Radcliffe Athletic Club members were in cross country action in Heaton Park.

They enjoyed perfect conditions at the second fixture of the South East Lancashire Cross Country League.

John Gibbs led home the trio of RAC members in the men’s 10k race, finishing 36th in 42:48. Craig Norman was six places behind in 43:51 while Neil Greenhalgh ran 46:55. Karen Doherty was the club’s sole representative in the ladies’ 8k race, running 46:14.

Radcliffe runners also got into the festive spirit at a series of Christmas-themed races. Elaine Bailey was first VW60 in 1:03:56 in the Great Sprout Scuttle 10k trail race in Doncaster.

Meanwhile Ian Swan managed to finish 26th in the Sale BigXmas 10k trail race, despite a marshall directing the first 15 runners the wrong way. The error cost Swan around nine places but he still notched up his second fastest 10k time of 53:12, even though he ran more than seven miles.

Karen Doherty and Jen Entwistle donned fancy dress for the Santa Dash Four Mile Trail Race in Horwich, running 51:29 and 54:58 respectively.

In the 5k parkruns, Rob Shiels was fifth at Hyndburn in 21:06 while Kathryn Davies ran 28:00 to finish fifth woman at Bolton. Tracy Wroe clocked 32:52 at Conway Parkrun while, closer to home, Jen Entwistle and Iain Harris ran 33:49 and 36:25 respectively at Bolton.
