Three Radcliffe AC runners completed four races in four days when they took part in the Tour of Tameside.
Mark Garner, Sharon Peterkin and Karen Doherty ran the X Trail 10k on Thursday and the six-mile Hell on the Fell race the following evening.
The challenge also included the Hero Half Marathon on Saturday and Sunday’s Dr Ron Hyde 7 Mile road race, named after the legendary marathon runner who founded the original tour.
Garner clocked 47:33 for the trail 10k, 52:47 on the fell, 1:47:19 in the half-marathon and he finished with 55:35 on the road. He was 19th Vet-45 and 114th over the 32.2 miles.
Doherty ran 1:02:33, 1:12:01, 2:28:13 and 1:12:56 respectively in the four events while Peterkin clocked 1:10:07, 1:27:03; 2:58:23 and 1:20:39. Peterkin also did a one-mile fun run in memory of murdered PC Nicola Hughes before the half-marathon.
All three received medals for each race and a commemorative T-shirt and pint glass.
The club had nine runners at the midweek Two Towers Fell Race. In slippery conditions, Lisa Carter was first Vet-40 in 53:40 and Kathryn Davies won the Vet-50 age group 57:19.
Dave McGrath was sixth overall and second Vet-40 in the four-mile event with its 1,312 feet of climbing on local moors above Holcombe.
He finished in 37:10 and also running were John Wrigley who finished in 40:54; Andy Haines 43:32; Lachlan Burke was third under-17 in 45:06; John Andrew 50:12; Kristian Lee 52:58 and Mark Wolfenden 01:04:38.
There was more success for the women in the Two Lads Fell Race which climbs 899ft into the Pennines above Horwich.
Katie Percival was fifth woman home on the 5.2 mile-course in 42:45 and Carter was third Vet-45 in 53:41.
The great results continued for Amanda Hey at the Freckleton Half Marathon near Preston, the oldest half in the UK. She ran 02:01:21 to claim fourth Vet-55.
Dave Bartlett ran the second race of the Pilling 10K Series in Preston in 49:45, knocking around four minutes off his time in the first race which took place in May.
Elaine Bailey clocked 57:47 to finish sixth Vet-60 at the Port Sunlight 10K in Merseyside while Andy Wheeler ran 1:19:36 at the hilly Ice Cream 10k in Bolton which included a stream crossing. He earned himself an ice cream and an ice-cream themed medal.
At Bolton parkrun, Ken Smith ran 24:01; Kris Booth 25:38; Paul Barrington 25:41; Kathryn Davies 28:08, and Iain Harris 36:03.
Sheila Jones was seventh woman in 24:00 at Heaton parkrun. She was joined by Nick Barnes who ran 25:44; junior Olivia Whittaker 28:39; Elaine Bailey 29:16; Helen Sandiford 29:24 and Tracy Wroe 31:30.
Vince Ashton ran 40:44 when he took on one of the UK’s hardest parkruns, Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District.
