Race report 1/11/21

There was some animal magic for two Radcliffe Athletic Club members who took on a race with a difference.

Natalie Hitchen and Sarah Rushton received fantastic animal-themed medals after completing the Chester Zoo 10k in 1.04:58 and 1.04:50 respectively.

The race started in the heart of the zoo before heading out onto the surrounding roads and then finishing back in the zoo.

In a quiet week for the club, members were also in action at the popular 5k parkruns.

Sheila Jones was first FV65 at Heaton Parkrun in 24:10 and Stephen Crowe ran 31:01. Kath Davies was also first VW55 in 28:48 at Bolton Parkrun and Steven Lomax clocked 29:12.

Elsewhere, Jen Entwistle ran 27:26 at Peel Parkrun in Salford and Tracy Wroe finished in 32:42 at Worsley Woods.

Some Radcliffe AC members also dressed up as zombies when they volunteered at a spooky Halloween event, scaring the walkers taking part in the Zombie Hike organised by the Sunnywood Project.

RAC members also volunteered at, and took part in, the Burrs Community Run, a timed 2k and 5k event which takes place at Burrs every Sunday morning.

Zombies Carl “Wicked” Willcock and Michelle “Horrifying” Hincks.

Caroline “Creepy” Malone as a zombie.
