Caroline Malone dives into racing

Radcliffe AC’s Caroline Malone made a splash when she returned to racing action.

She took part in the UswimRun event at Media City, Salford, which combined open water swimming and running.

Malone completed a 750m swim, a 1-mile run, 450m swim, 1-mile run, 250m swim and 1-mile run in 59:47. She was tenth female and 23rd overall out of a field of 41.

As most races continue to be cancelled due to Covid-19, other Radcliffe runners have taken part in virtual events.

Helen Talbot notched up 180 miles over 40 runs to complete the Great North Run Solo challenge.

A trio of members also finished the virtual Great Manchester Run Half Marathon.

Sheila Jones ran 2:08:00 on a route through Radcliffe, Ainsworth and Prestwich, while Natalie Hitchen and Sarah Rushton clocked 2:40:23 running together in Bolton and Radcliffe.

Louise Shield bagged a personal best of 55:56 in the virtual Alderley Edge 10k.
