About the Club
Radcliffe Athletic Club exists to create a friendly and enjoyable way for members to experience and improve their running and to promote running in the town. New members are always welcome whether they wish to run socially with friends, competitively, or both. To this end the club gives its members an annual challenge, that of getting to enough road, trail, fell, and cross country races in the club’s championship calendar to qualify for a prize.
During the year there are various leagues and Grand Prix’s taking place from club level to regional ability covering three main areas within the club: Fell Races, Road/Trail Races and Cross Country. The club also ventures into relay races. Please see members on club nights for further information or check out the “Races” menu at the top of the page.
The club meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm at Radcliffe Leisure Centre (formerly Riverside School), Spring Lane, Radcliffe, M26 2SZ every week. Sessions usually last between 60 and 90 minutes.
There is a choice of training sessions to participate in from beginners through to competition racing. Each club evening is split into a training run, speed work or circuit training within the gym. All abilities are welcome.
If it’s your first time down aim to arrive around 6.50pm and introduce yourself to one of the members who will help you sign in. We are a real friendly bunch.
Showers and changing available. The subs are minimal and if you like the sessions, become a member!
Beginners/Returning back to running
Radcliffe Athletic Club now offer a beginners / return to running group, this is designed to get people running in a safe structured format or back into running after a prolonged absence.
The group will always be supported by a qualified England Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness coach, which enables newcomers to feel comfortable with people at or about their own abilities. There is no need to worry about the speed or pace of the group as each session will be tailored towards the group present.
The group will run off the road where possible to enable easier group running and to develop the individuals running skills and confidence.
As they develop individuals can then progress to running with other groups within the club on Monday’s and Wednesday’s, if they wish.
If you’re out running by yourself or with a friend, give us a try.
