EIGHT Radcliffe AC members enjoyed near perfect conditions in the Stockport 10 Mile Road Race on Sunday. First home for the club on a tough undulating course was Tony Holt (V50) who clocked 1hr 13mins 32secs and was 287th out of 1,200 runners and 18th in his age group. Eileen Royle who ran 1hr 25mins 49secs was first woman veteran 65. After Tony next home was Dave Bartlett in 1hr 18mins 07secs closely followed by Steve Hamer in 1hr 18mins 55secs, happy to have beaten his target of 80 mintues. John Kirkham (V60) clocked 1hr 24mins 02secs. Coming in together Paul Barrington ran 1hr 27mins 25secs and Kris Lee 1hr 27mins 26secs, running ten miles for the first time. Sinead Hayes clocked 1hr 34mins 15secs, and thoroughly enjoyed the event and the organisation.
The day before Eileen had been second vet-65 when she joined three other women from Radcliffe in the Red Rose Cross Country League event at Marl Pits, Rossendale. Dave also ran both days. Conditions were not good on Saturday and there was a lot of mud to contend with but first woman home for the club was Catherine White (V40) who was 53rd out of 83 runners. Rachael Stoney was in next, Royle, and then Suzanne Andrew (V40). Among the men David Ward (V40) was first home coming in a creditable 98th out of 193 competitors. Ian West (V50) followed, Dave was next then John Andrew (V40) and Tom West who was third veteran 70.
George Critchley joined family and friends in fancy dress for the Tatton Park Yule Yump 10k, in Cheshire. The event runs through the park and on trails and George has run it for a few years now, completing the course this time in 51mins 30secs.
