RADCLIFFE AC’s Ian Warrington had a good weekend when he finished in the top ten in the Blackpool Illumination 5k clocking 19mins 19secs and then beat 200 runners in the Pennington Flash 5 the following day.
In the Blackpool event on Saturday evening, back lit by the famous illuminations, he was sixth and clocked 19mins 20secs but was disappointed not to get a personal best time when a marshal sent runners the wrong way and it added on to the course. His wife Debs also ran and was well pleased to get under her 35 minute target with 5k 32mins 29secs. Mckenzie Madison ran the Illumination 10k clocking 44mins 52secs.
The following day Ian was one of a good turnout of 25 from the club taking on the trail race. Billed as five miles but slightly over on paths and trails in Pennington Flash Country Park at Leigh he was 26th when he ran 33mins 26secs. There were some close battles and Chris Paxton was home second for the club right behind him in 27th place in 33mins 43secs. Mark Williams (V50) was third in with 35mins 07secs in 38th position.

The club had turned out in force to keep up their successful challenge in the Central Lancs Grand Prix races.
Mauro Rotondi took time out from visiting friends and relatives in Italy on Sunday evening to run the AmAvis 10k road race in Amaseno and in very hot and humid conditions he clocked 46mins 03secs.
On Saturday Paul Swyers vet-50 took to the hills and ran the Pendleton Fell Race near Clitheroe. On the five mile course with 1,500 feet of climbing he clocked 53mins 29secs.
In the midweek Stan Curran Birthday 5k Cowm Reservoir Race Kirsten Cook clocked 26mins 51secs and Karen Doherty 28mins 14secs.
There was a double from Vince Ashton when he ran the Penrith Parkrun, his 44th location, where he clocked 25mins 50secs, and then the Lancaster 5k where he ran 24mins 54secs.
In the parkruns Sheila Jones ran 23mins 55secs at Heaton Park: Nick Barnes 26mins 32secs and Tammy Oluyori 30mins 32secs. At Bolton Mark Murphy clocked 30mins 57secs and Andy Wheeler 32mins 16secs.
