RADCLIFFE AC runners have been getting into the festive spirit and showing off some great fancy dress outfits.
Seven of them ran Rudolf’s Red Nose 5 Mile Trail Race at Blackpool, joining hundreds at the start at Blackpool Fire Station and first home for the club was Pete Warr (V45) in 45mins 19secs. Eileen Sharman (V60) ran 46mins 33secs: Jen Entwistle 1hr 02mins 39secs: Lisa Donnelly (45) 1hr 02mins 40secs: Katie Benson 1hr 03mins 41secs: Sharon Peterkin 1hr 03mins 42secs and Christine Berry (V50) 1hr 03mins 52secs. But it was more about the festive fun than times. Every finisher received a goody bag of wine, chocolate and a mince pie.
The following day they were celebrating again when seven ran the 5k Santa Dash at Burrs Country Park with Lisa Donnelly and Lucy Dewhurst winning bottles of wine for their costumes. Jenny Yates was first in for the club in 24mins 12secs: Lisa Carter ran 28mins 04secs: Karen Doherty 29mins 56secs: Jen Entwistle 30mins 28secs: Lisa Donnelly 33mins 42secs and Sarah Rushton and Lucy Dewhurst ran together in 33mins 52secs, but it was joining in the fun that mattered.
Three took to the hills in the Christmas fell race the Whinberry Naze Dash in Rossendale. From the Marl Pits Sports Centre in Rawtenstall it involved a steep climb to the summit where Father Christmas was waiting to give runners in fancy dress Smarties! Dave McGrath ran around 30mins, Katie Percival 36mins and Mark Wolfenden 40mins.
In the parkruns on Saturday Mark Garner (V45) ran 22mins 46secs at Heaton Park. Kate Holden (V40) 23mins 05secs: Nick Barnes 23mins 16secs: Sheila Jones (V60) 24mins 02secs and Iain Harris (V65) 30mins 06secs. At Bolton Mark Williams (V50) clocked 28mins 33secs, daughter Grace 29mins 23secs and Lucy Dewhurst 40mins 32secs.
