RADCLIFFE AC had a great turnout of 34 runners at the Central Lancs 5k at Bolton on Sunday with Neal Emmerson coming home eigth out of 309 in a time of 17mins 20secs.
The race in and around Leverhulme Park was also the opening fixture of the competitive Central Lancs Grand Prix which involves 10 clubs, including Radcliffe, battling it out during the season over a series of events…
Among the women Jenny Yates took the first vet-50 trophy and was 14th woman in 21mins 58secs eight seconds behind Katie Percival who was 11th woman in 21mins 50secs. Kate Holden was second vet-40 in 23mins 35secs.
Chris Whittaker followed Neal home for the club coming 32nd overall clocking 18mins 49secs and John Wrigley was 53rd in 19mins 46secs. Mark Williams (V50) ran 20mins 16secs: Mike Kontowtt (V55) not far behind ran 20mins 39secs and Dave McGrath also close clocking 20mins 42secs. Nick Barnes ran 22mins 06secs: Mark Garner (V45) 22mins 22secs: Mark Wolfenden (V50) on his tail in 22mins 33secs and vet-50 John McNicoll clocking 22mins 50secs.

Five took part in the last event in the South East Lancs Cross Country League at Astley Park Chorley on Saturday.
Kate Holden was 30th out of 72 women runners in 33mins 10secs and Karen Doherty clocked 43mins 57secs, both doing the double with the cross country and then the 5k over weekend.
On a longer course John Wrigley, who also ran the double, clocked 43mins 09secs coming 43rd out of 108 runners, Chris Paxton clocked 45mins 48secs and Kris Lee 47mins 14secs.
In the 29th Great North West Half Marathon around the coastal front of Blackpool Sarah Oxley ran 2hrs 26mins 10secs. Suffering with knee problems she was happy to finish the event.
In the parkruns John Gibbs ran 19mins 46secs at Heaton Park, Nick Barnes 22mins 18secs; Sheila Jones 23mins 54secs: Peter Hunter 25mins 32secs: Debi Warrington running with Ian 30mins 37secs and Iain Harris 36mins 11secs.
At Bolton Kath Davies clocked 29mins 46secs and running together Lisa Donnelly 37mins 15secs,Sarah Oxley 37mins 16secs and Jen Entwistle 37mins 18secs.
Lee and Sarah Turner enjoyed better weather than us and got to know the locals when they raced in Holetown Barbados with Sarah coming third woman.
