THERE was success for Radcliffe AC when 30 joined more than 1,600 runners in the second Run for All Bury 10k on Sunday.
In great conditions, Donna Cartwright came home fourth woman and first vet-40 in 42mins 55secs while an improving Chris Paxton was a fine 30th and sixth male 35 with a personal best time of 39mins 12secs. He improved on his best by more than 90 seconds and beat last year’s time by two minutes and 30 seconds. His success was helped along when he joined other runners alongside clubmate Ian Warrington who had volunteered to be the 40 minute pacer for the race. He said: “I ran the first 4k with Ian and his pacing definitely put me on the path to a pb.” Club coach Ian did a fine job crossing the line himself in 39mins 59secs.
Mike Kontowtt was 57th overall and fourth vet-50 with a pb of 41mins 07secs and Mauro Rotondi was sixth vet-45 and 79th overall in 42mins 14secs, a pb of more than two minutes. New member Michael Chaloner had a pb with 42mins 26secs, Dave Rushton (V50) ran 43mins 09secs and Katie Percival was eighth woman in a pb of 44mins 07secs. Kris Lee (V40) ran 44mins 12secs: Peter Hunter 44mins 31secs and vet-55: Mark Garner (V40) 45mins 56secs: Steve Hamer was pleased with his 45mins 59secs, not having gone under 46 minutes for the past 10 years!

On Saturday four took part in the Northern Athletics Championship Road Relays at SportCity in Manchester a new venture for the club. Lisa Carter, Jenny Yates, Paula Abernethy and Caroline Mullineaux took on the 4 Stage Ladies Road Relay which stated on the track and then covered two loops. They enjoyed the experience in a top field with a few teams finishing behind them.
Rob Lister did the Belfast Parkrun in 21st place in remarkably 21mins 21secs and then the next day did the Belfast Half Marathon clocking 1hr 38mins 05secs in glorious conditions.
Lee Turner took to the hills when he ran the Fat Boys Stanage Struggle Fell Race at Hathersage in the Peak District going up the hardest three mile climb he said he had ever done and clocking 56mins 17secs for the six miles and 1,165 feet.
Vet 50 Jenny Yates took part in the NorthernVets athletics competition at Bury AC track on Sunday coming second in the 800m in her age group in 2mins 51secs and second in the 400m in 76.1 seconds.
Ian Hopkinson went for two wheels on Sunday taking part in the Share The Road Cycling Sportive 46 mile ride from Preston around the scenic Lancashire countryside.The event had more than 2,000 feet of climbing and he was pleased with the 4hrs 10mins it took to complete the route.
In the popular parkruns Nick Barnes was a long way from home when he ran the Buckingham Parkrun coming 29th in 22mins 25secs. At Bolton Chris Fletcher ran 26mins 39secs.
