THE club had a good turnout of 29 runners at the Red Rose Cross Country League event at Chorley with the women taking fifth team place overall and second among the veteran teams.
Facing deep stream crossings and mud on a tough hilly course Donna Cartwright (V40) had a great 10th place out of 151 runners with Fiona Lynch (V40) 32nd, Katie Percival 35th and Jenny Yates third vet-50 in 45th place. Donna, Fiona and Katie took the fifth team place with Donna,Fiona and Jenny coming second among the vets.
Also running were new member Helen Andrew (V45) in 58th place: Kate Holden (V40) in 66th place: Paula Abernethy (V50): Sarah Scott: Lisa Carter (V45): Caroline Mullineaux (V40): Chemane Brier back into her racing:after injury: Susanne Andrew (V40) and Karen Doherty (V40).
The club had three runners taking part from the club’s new junior section, Fleur Carter, Harry Andrew and Ewan Warr.
Among the men Neal Emmerson was 30th out of 250 runners, Ian Warrington 68th and John Wrigley 123rd. Running in Cheshire Amanda Hey was first woman vet-55 at the Tatton Park Half Marathon in a time of 1hr 48mins 20secs. She was 58th woman out of 478 and 372nd overall out of 1,121 runners. She said it was a brilliant course with a bit of everything and one to recommend for next year.
John Barton took on the five mile Dunnerdale Fell Race in the Lake District covering 1,800 feet of climbing on the rugged fells of Lickle and the Duddon valleys from Broughton Mills and he clocked 1hr 00mins 38secs.
Five ran the Windmill 10k, a fast and flat course on the coastal front of Lytham and Fairhaven Lake starting from the windmill at Lytham St Annes. Dave Rushton (V50) clocked 43mins 44secs and wife Sarah, ran a personal best with 58mins 34secs and was well over two minutes faster than when she did the 10k in 2015 as her first race. Michael Gilmore ran 44mins 37secs, Sarah Oxley 59mins 31secs and Shaun Boult, getting back into his racing 1hr 01min 53secs.
In the Heaton Parkrun Nick Barnes clocked 24mins 10secs: Tammy Oluyori 28mins 50secs and Iain Harris (V65) 30mins 30secs. At Bolton Steve Lomax ran 23mins 08secs.
