RADCLIFFE AC’s Neal Emmerson took 12th place out of 995 runners at the Stockport 10 on Sunday. He had a personal best time of 57mins 42secs, beating his previous time by more than two-and-a half minutes on a testing course with two challenging climbs at five and eight miles.
There was a good turnout from the club with 22 runners starting at the Woodbank Stadium and many had pbs to celebrate afterwards. Several also had two days of racing either competing in the cross country the day before or a parkrun. Jenny Yates ran 1hr 19mins 22secs putting her third vet-50. She had run cross country the day before and was part of a women’s veteran team to come in second place at Rossendale.
Next home after Neal was Ian Warrington who was 52nd clocking 1hr 02mins 51secs, his fourth consecutive pb at Stockport: Chris Paxton ran 1hr 09mins 01sec, a pb by 13seconds Mike Kontowtt (V50) ran 1hr 09mins 52secs: Mauro Rotondi (V40) ran 1hr 11mins 30secs, nearly 13 minutes better than when he ran the course in 2015: Katie Percival was 30th woman in 1hr 15mins 26secs: Dave Rushton (V50) ran 1hr 16mins 42secs: Kris Lee (V40) 1hr 17mins 13secs: Ken Smith 1hr 18mins 15secs, putting him eighth vet-60: Kate Holden had a pb with 1hr 18mins 23secs: Sheila Jones was sixth vet-60 in 1hr 24mins 55secs:Louise Bowden (V40) ran 1hr 25mins 56secs:Caroline Mullineaux had a pb with 1hr 28mins 19secs:Lisa Carter (V45) and Steve Hamer (V55) ran 1hr 35mins 04secs: Karen Doherty (V40) 1hr 39mins 18secs: Gavin Durman 1hr 39mins 51secs: Jen Entwistle had a pb with 1hr 43mins 08secs: Sarah Rushton (V45) ran 1hr 44mins 08secs and Lucy Dewhurst 1hr 46mins 06secs. Fourteen ran a muddy Red Rose Cross Country League event at Marl Pits in Rossendale on Saturday.
Donna Cartwright was 11th woman and first vet-40 out of 112 women runners with Fiona Lynch (V40) in 22nd place and Jenny Yates in 29th and their positions clinched second place among the vets teams.Also running were Lisa Carter (V45) and Karen Doherty (V40). Two juniors, Fleur Carter and Niamh Warr also ran in the under 11 girls.
Among the men, John Wrigley was first in for the club followed by Chris Paxton, Dave Rushton (V50), Kris Lee (V40) Mark Cartwright (V50), Elliot Boyd and Peter Warr (V40). Full results:
Seven ran in the popular parkrun at Heaton Park Saturday morning with Sheila Jones (V60) clocking 23mins 53secs: Peter Hunter 24mins 14secs: Nick Barnes 24mins 38secs: Iain Harris (V65) 32mins 06secs: Lisa Donnelly (V45) in her first parkrun 32mins 43secs: First parkrun Jen Entwistle 32mins 35secs and Tammy Oluyori 33mins 12secs. At Bolton Kath Davies (V55) clocked 27mins 15secs and Bev McGrath (V50) 35mins 13secs.
Vince Ashton ran the 5k Burrs Great Run Local on Sunday and clocked 27mins 37secs in muddy conditions.
